Cohort 2 of the Gender & AI Innovation Collective (GAIC)

Applications are open for Cohort 2 of the Gender & AI Innovation Collective (GAIC), co-led by Code For Africa and Women At The Table. The program empowers women’s rights organizations across Africa to develop AI solutions addressing gender-based challenges in their communities, from economic barriers to healthcare, education, and political participation.

How it works – 3 phases from #Idea to #Impact:

  • Phase 1: Concept Papers (3 months, unfunded) – Learn about #FeministAI, data, models, and impact assessment. Develop a concept paper, receive mentor feedback, and connect with other organizations. Completion unlocks funding for later phases.
  • Phase 2: Prototypes (4–5 months) – Build a working version of your idea. Funding: 6 prototypes (CAD 7,500 each) and 6 localisations (CAD 3,000 each).
  • Phase 3: Pilots (6–8 months) – Deploy your tool, gather feedback, and refine it. Funding: 3 pilots (CAD 15,000 each).
