LINGUA Africa

The Masakhane African Languages Hub is now accepting applications to support locally rooted AI and language technology initiatives across Africa. The programme seeks researchers, technologists, startups, community organisations, and innovators working to strengthen the representation of African languages in digital systems and artificial intelligence.
Applicants are invited to propose projects that advance inclusive and community-driven AI through the development of datasets, language technologies, open-source tools, and locally relevant digital solutions. The initiative aims to support innovations that reflect Africa’s linguistic diversity while improving access to technology, information, and services across sectors such as education, healthcare, and agriculture.
By investing in African-led innovation, the Hub is helping build a more inclusive digital future where African languages, cultures, and communities are represented in the technologies shaping tomorrow.
