Joyce Nakatumba-Nabende

Dr. Joyce Nakatumba-Nabende is the Principal Investigator of the Makerere University Artificial Intelligence for Development Research Lab, and Head of the Makerere AI Lab in the Department of Computer Science. With the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across Africa, the lab works to build local AI research capacity and expand access to opportunities in AI, machine learning, and natural language processing. A senior lecturer at Makerere's School of Computing and Informatics Technology, she is committed to building the capacity of African data scientists and advancing gender equity in research.
