Shakir Mohamed

Dr. Shakir Mohamed is the Principal Investigator of the Deep Learning Indaba Artificial Intelligence Challenges. This project strengthens Africa’s machine learning and AI community by supporting the Deep Learning Indaba, a grassroots, African-led conference that empowers Africans to actively shape and own AI advances. The initiative promotes accessible AI education and research across the continent, with scholarships for women and people with disabilities, an annual “Ideathon” for practical solutions, and multi-year support to ensure sustainable growth and impact.
