Africa AI Safety Prize Competition

AI is being deployed across Africa rapidly, but safety infrastructure hasn’t kept pace. The Centre for AI Security and Access Africa AI Safety Prize invites researchers, practitioners, and innovators to develop context-appropriate AI safety tools for African communities.Challenge Tracks:

• Track I: Community-Level Monitoring of AI Harms in Africa
• Track II: Context-Appropriate AI Safety Evaluation for African Deployment

With $10,000 in prizes across 2 challenge tracks, the competition seeks practical solutions tools, methods, or locally grounded approaches that can be applied in real contexts to assess risk, prevent harm, and strengthen local capacity.
