Jonathan Shock

Jonathan Shock is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, UCT, an Adjunct Professor at the INRS, Montreal, Interim Director of the UCT AI Initiative, and Co-PI on the African Hub on AI Safety, Peace and Security.

Jonathan comes from a background in theoretical physics, but his research now focuses on both foundational and applied machine learning including in biology, physics, chemistry, psychology, natural language processing and AI safety.
