AutoAI-Pandemics

Overview
AutoAI Pandemics is an AI-powered initiative making complex health data analysis and misinformation detection accessible to everyone not just experts and it's already reaching thousands of people across Latin America and beyond.
In an era of viral health misinformation, most people lack the tools to critically evaluate what they read online. At the same time, epidemiological and bioinformatics analyses remain locked behind technical barriers, leaving policymakers, biologists, and the public without the insights they need to make informed decisions especially during health crises.
At the heart of the project is Dominique, an AI-powered public health communication tool that scans and analyzes online content in real time, flagging misinformation and helping users assess the credibility of health information. Alongside it, the AutoAI Pandemics platform automates complex epidemiological and bioinformatics analyses democratizing data science for non-experts and bridging the gap between researchers, policymakers, and the general public. The project upholds responsible AI principles throughout: ensuring inclusive, user-friendly design, safeguarding privacy, and prioritizing long-term sustainability.
The impact is already visible. Dominique has earned recognition from the Google Latin America Research Award, the Breaking the Wall of Fake News Competition, and the Prototypes for Humanity Award (2023). More than 3,000 people have been reached through the initiative to date. By strengthening trust in digital health information and empowering non-experts to engage with data, the project offers a scalable, community-driven model for responsible AI in public health one that could prove critical in the next pandemic.
