Digicare

Overview
DigiCare is a digital health platform transforming community-based care in Cameroon connecting patients with nurses, replacing paper with data, and using AI to protect lives at the frontlines of disease and maternal health.
Cameroon's health system faces compounding crises: disease outbreaks spreading undetected across porous borders, maternal mortality driven by misinformation and lack of timely support, and fragmented patient records that leave hospitals flying blind. In under-resourced settings, paper-based processes don't just slow care down they cost lives.
DigiCare replaces these broken systems with an integrated digital infrastructure. Its surveillance dashboards map high-risk zoonotic disease zones along Cameroon's borders in real time, enabling faster public health responses. A WhatsApp-based chatbot delivers personalised, evidence-based guidance to expectant mothers throughout pregnancy. Across hospital departments, DigiCare synchronises patient data to ensure continuity of care and trains nurses to sustain these tools through hands-on skill development and knowledge transfer.
The platform is already reshaping how Cameroon's health system sees itself. Web-based dashboards are making public health data more transparent and actionable, supporting evidence-based policymaking and more efficient allocation of scarce resources. By meeting patients and communities where they already are ,on mobile phones DigiCare offers a scalable, responsible model for AI-powered healthcare in low-resource settings, with the potential to prevent disease outbreaks, reduce maternal deaths, and build a health system that learns as it grows.
