Overview

Adolescent sexual, reproductive, and mental health (ASRMH) remains deeply underserved in Bangladesh, where societal taboos, limited healthcare infrastructure, and cultural barriers leave millions of young people aged 11 to 19 without access to the information and care they need. For adolescents navigating these challenges in silence, the consequences span physical health, mental wellbeing, and long-term life outcomes.

Implemented by CMED Health Limited, the project integrates an open-source AI engine into SuSastho, an existing digital health platform, to meet adolescents where they are. The solution delivers health education, screening, doctor consultations, referrals, and data analytics through a culturally sensitive chatbot, referral engine, and stakeholder dashboard designed specifically for the Bangladeshi health landscape and its diverse communities.

Consultative workshops are shaping the platform's language, tone, and content to reflect the lived realities of Bangladeshi adolescents, while clinical validations and beta testing are ensuring the solution meets rigorous health standards before scale. The result is a platform young people can trust, one that speaks to them honestly, connects them to care, and equips health system stakeholders with the data to respond.

By embedding responsible AI into an already-familiar digital health infrastructure, Susastho.AI offers a replicable model for extending adolescent health services across contexts where stigma and access have long stood in the way.
