Teen Chatbot-Utilizing AI to Promote Sexual and Reproductive Health Outcomes for Adolescents with Disabilities in Ghana.
In Ghana, adolescents with hearing, speech, and visual disabilities are being left behind when it comes to sexual and reproductive health and AI is changing that. Accessing accurate, age-appropriate SRH information is already difficult for many young people, but for adolescents with disabilities, entrenched information barriers make it nearly impossible. Mainstream health education resources are rarely designed with their needs in mind, leaving this population vulnerable to misinformation, poor health decisions, and preventable outcomes. This project deploys AI-powered interventions to deliver reliable, accessible SRH education tailored to the specific needs of adolescents with hearing, speech, and visual disabilities across Ghana. Developed in close partnership with the Ghana Health Service which validated all data for accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and alignment with local health standards, the initiative ensures that young people receive information that is not only accessible, but trustworthy and contextually relevant. By breaking down longstanding information barriers, the project is empowering adolescents with disabilities to make informed decisions about their health and well-being, offering a responsible, community-grounded model for using AI to reach the most underserved.
