FACETS Responsible AI

Overview

FACETS is an AI evaluation framework developed to ensure that AI solutions deployed across Africa are responsible, trustworthy, and built with integrity helping organizations move from good intentions to accountable outcomes.

As AI adoption accelerates across the continent, a critical gap has emerged: many AI systems are deployed without rigorous checks for fairness, transparency, or ethical alignment. Without a structured way to assess these qualities, well-meaning solutions risk causing harm perpetuating bias, eroding trust, or failing the communities they set out to serve.

FACETS addresses this by providing a structured scoring system that evaluates AI solutions against core responsible AI principles fairness, accountability, confidentiality, ethics, transparency, and safety. Its Responsibility Report assesses systems across the full AI lifecycle, from the initial Envision stage through Data, Model, and Deployment, giving developers and organizations a clear, actionable picture of where their solutions meet the bar and where improvement is needed.
